Mexican officials are exploring the possibility of changing the operator at the Zama field.

The partners in the joint venture for Mexico’s largest undeveloped oilfield are currently engaged in discussions regarding a potential operator change that could facilitate the field’s development.

According to Harbour Energy, a partner in the joint venture, the Zama oilfield is estimated to contain around 750 million barrels of oil equivalent, surpassing other undeveloped Mexican fields such as Trion and Polok Chinwol.

Situated in shallow waters approximately 150 meters deep, Zama is fully appraised and features a high-quality reservoir, making it a significant industrial project for Mexico.
