GeoPark Limited has named Felipe Bayón as its new Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of Directors, effective June 1, 2025, following the resignation of current CEO Andrés Ocampo for personal reasons.
Bayón, a seasoned energy executive with over 30 years of experience, previously led Ecopetrol from 2017 to 2023, overseeing production of approximately 700,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day and revenues surpassing $30 billion. During his tenure, he spearheaded strategic expansions into the U.S. Permian basin and Brazil’s pre-salt fields, while also growing Ecopetrol’s presence in renewable energy and infrastructure sectors.
A mechanical engineer by training, Bayón began his career with Shell before joining bp, where he held senior roles across Latin America, the U.S., and the U.K., including serving as CEO of Pan American Energy in Argentina.
Andrés Ocampo, who served GeoPark for more than 15 years in various leadership roles including CFO and CEO, will assist in ensuring a smooth transition.
Board Chair Sylvia Escovar praised Ocampo’s contributions, while Ocampo expressed confidence in Bayón’s ability to guide GeoPark through its next growth phase.
Bayón stated he is “honored and excited” to lead GeoPark’s expansion efforts, highlighting strong opportunities ahead and a committed team ready to deliver long-term success.
