Baker Hughes has secured a significant contract with ExxonMobil Guyana to supply specialty chemicals and associated services for the Uaru and Whiptail offshore greenfield projects in the highly productive Stabroek Block of Guyana. This announcement was made during Baker Hughes’ 25th Annual Meeting held in Florence, Italy.

The multi-year agreement encompasses all topsides, subsea, water injection, and utility chemicals for the Errea Wittu and Jaguar floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels, which are currently in development and expected to commence production in 2026 and 2027, respectively. With extensive experience in Guyana, Baker Hughes has developed local supply chains to ensure a dependable and efficient source of chemicals tailored to the specific requirements of these projects.

“Baker Hughes and ExxonMobil Guyana have a longstanding partnership in supporting the energy sector in Guyana, and we are eager to collaborate on this next phase,” stated Amerino Gatti, executive vice president of Oilfield Services & Equipment at Baker Hughes. “Our deep understanding of the country’s energy supply chain and our unparalleled expertise in oilfield and industrial chemicals position Baker Hughes as the ideal partner for managing complex FPSO operations like these.”

The Uaru and Whiptail projects represent ExxonMobil Guyana’s fifth and sixth initiatives in the region. These developments will feature up to 20 drill centers and 92 production and injection wells, with each FPSO designed to handle 250,000 barrels per day, thereby increasing the nation’s total daily production capacity to around 1.3 million barrels.

Baker Hughes has a strong commitment to localization in Guyana, having celebrated the opening of a multimodal supercenter in Georgetown in 2022. The company also offers a range of services and equipment to operators in the region, including turbomachinery for ExxonMobil Guyana’s FPSO fleet and production chemicals for the Liza Unity vessel.
