Malaysia’s national exploration and production (E&P) company, Petronas Carigali, has initiated an important tender to support its future drilling operations offshore Indonesia, a region that is becoming increasingly central to the company’s strategic focus in Southeast Asia, alongside Peninsular Malaysia.

The tender seeks the provision of mud logging equipment and services to facilitate drilling campaigns in three of Petronas Carigali’s offshore blocks in Indonesia: Ketapang, North Madura II, and North Ketapang. These blocks are critical to the company’s exploration and production efforts in the region, and the awarded contract will play a key role in ensuring the success of the upcoming drilling operations.

As outlined in the prequalification notice, Petronas Carigali is planning to drill a total of 12 firm wells and three optional wells within the four-year contract term. The project is set to bring significant activity to Indonesia’s offshore energy sector, and the scope of work includes a requirement for a minimum of 70% local content (TKDN), highlighting Petronas Carigali’s commitment to supporting local businesses and strengthening the regional supply chain.

This latest development underlines Petronas Carigali’s ongoing investment in Southeast Asia’s energy sector, reinforcing its position as a key player in offshore oil and gas exploration.
